Benjamin Russell assistant football coach dies in car crash

A single-vehicle crash at 2:13 a.m. Sunday has claimed the life of Curtis Robertson Glaize.

Glaize, 24, was a first-year teacher at Benjamin Russell High School and was also an offensive line coach for the football team.

He was killed when the 2011 Chevrolet Silverado he was driving left the roadway and struck a tree.  Glaize, who was not using a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to a press release by the Alexander City Highway Patrol Post. The crash occurred on Alabama 77 near the 5-mile marker, approximately five miles north of Lafayette.
